FIL European Luge Natural Track Championships 1985

The 11th FIL Luge Natural Track Championship took place from 20 to 24 February 1985 in Szczyrk in Poland. She was the first European who has not played in Austria or Italy.

Single Seater Men

After the Italian team had five consecutive times on the European champions, the title in the men 's singles this year went by Manfred Danklmaier back to Austria. The silver medal was won by the European champion in 1979, Damiano Lugon from Italy. Bronze was won by Austrian Robert Tomelitsch.

Single Seater Ladies

The reigning World Champion Delia Vaudan from Italy for the second time after 1981, European champion in single seaters. The silver medal won her compatriot Irmgard Lanthaler as with the last European Championship. In third place is another Italian, Herta Hafner placed. Hafner was 1982 world champion and had won the bronze medal at the European Championships in 1979. This stood for the second time after 1979 only Italians on the podium at a natural track luge European championship.

Two-seater

As in the Women's Singles there was an Italian triple victory in the doubles. European champions were Raimund Pigneter and Georg Antholz. They were at the last European Championship runner-up. The silver medal won Almir Betemps and Corrado Herin. For them it was the first medal at championships. The bronze went to the defending World Champion Andreas Jud and Ernst upper hammer.
