The name is derived from French fructueux ( fruit-bearing ). The Fructidor is the third month of the summer quarter ( mois d' été ). He begins around August 18 and ends around September 16.

Day names

Like all months of the French Revolution calendar had the Fructidor 30 days, which were divided into three decades. The days were named after agriculturally important plants, with the exception of the 5th and 10th day of each decade.
