Gaziantep Büyükşehir Belediye Spor Kulübü ( German: Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality Sports Club) is a Turkish sports club based in Gaziantep, which is primarily known for its football department. The city administration Gaziantep support the club. The name of the football department was until 1998 Sankospor. Their home games contests the team Kamil Ocak Stadium -. The club colors are blue and white. The basketball department rose in summer 2012 in the Türkiye Basketbol Ligi, the highest Turkish Basketball League, to represent and since then the city in this league.

History

Foundation

The club was founded in 1988 unterdem Sankospor Kulübü or in the short form Sankospor as the operating team of the company Sanko Holding the business owner Sani Konukoğlu in his home town of Gaziantep. In the summer of 1993 succeeded the football team in the third Türkiye Futbol Ligi, ascend the then third highest football league in Turkish professional football.

Promotion to the TFF 1 Lig and name change to " Gaziantep BB"

At the end of third league season 1996/97 Sankospor succeeded the championship and becoming the first rise in the second Türkiye Futbol Ligi, the then second highest Turkish league. Before the second season, the second division competition Sankospors rights were handed over to the football section of Gaziantep Büyükşehir Belediyespor, the company sports club of the city administration of Gaziantep, which is why the club from then participated under this name in the competition.

Modern Times

When Mehmet Erol Maras was elected the third president of the club's history on 22 June 2004, he made it in 11 months with the team in the second league ascend.
