Georg Wadenius

Georg ( e) " Jojje " Wadenius ( born May 4, 1945 in Stockholm ) is a Swedish fusion musician (guitar, bass guitar, vocals) and music producer who became internationally known mainly as a member of Blood, Sweat & Tears. The solo play on the guitar, he connects " with unreal -sounding vocalizations. "

Life and work

Wadenius, who visited Adolf Fredrik Music School in Stockholm, was involved as a studio musician on some pop music recordings. From 1966 to 1972 he belonged to the Swedish band Made in Sweden, from 1971, to the solar plexus. In the field of jazz worked as a bassist with Ake Persson, Rune Gustafsson, Björn J: son Lindh and as a guitarist with Monica Zetterlund. In 1972 he moved to the United States of America, where he played with Joe Henderson and then until 1975 as a guitarist was a member of Blood, Sweat & Tears.

From 1979 to 1985 he was member of the band the TV show Saturday Night Live, but also took up with Roberta Flack, Dionne Warwick and Luther Vandross. He then worked with Steely Dan ( Alive in America, 1993-94 ), Aretha Franklin, Diana Ross, Dr. John, David Sanborn, James Brown, Marianne Faithfull, Kent, Paul Simon, Dionne Warwick, Roberta Flack, Donald Fagen and Michael Franks. He has also recorded albums with Paquito D' Rivera, Jeremy Steig, Ronnie Cuber, Howard Johnson, George Benson, Viktoria Tolstoy and the UMO Jazz Orchestra.

As a producer he worked with Anne Sofie von Otter and Inger Marie Gundersen.

Prizes and awards

In 1970 he received a Swedish " Grammis " with Made in Sweden; his plates with children's songs have been awarded a " Grammis ".
