Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño

Gonzalo Fernández Castaño ( born October 13, 1980 in Madrid ) is a Spanish professional golfer on the European Tour.

He won the 2003 Spanish Amateur Championship, in 2004 professional golfer and qualified in the autumn on the Tour School for the European Tour. In his first season Fernández Castaño won the KLM Open and was awarded at the end of the season with the Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year Award for Best Newcomer. In 2006 he won the BMW Asian Open, an event which also includes the Asian Tour.

His idol Seve Ballesteros has so far surpassed when he won the first Tour title already in his 16th -shows, while Seve for needed 27 attempts Fernández Castaño. By his own admission he strives to reach the level of Spanish golf sizes Ballesteros, Jose Maria Olazabal and Sergio Garcia.
