Gordon J. Humphrey

Gordon John Humphrey ( born October 9, 1940 in Bristol, Connecticut ) is an American politician of the Republican Party of New Hampshire. He was a member from 1979 to 1990 the Senate of the United States.

Biography

Humphrey was born on 9 October 1940 in Bristol. He attended George Washington University and the University of Maryland, College Park. From 1958 to 1962 he served in the United States Air Force and was from 1964 professional pilot. Later he joined the Republican Party and in 1978 was elected to the U.S. Senate. There he sat, among others in the committees for foreign policy, defense and justice. In 1984 he was elected to the Senate, but resigned before the expiration of his term in December 1990 back because he wanted to be elected to the Senate from New Hampshire, and succeeded him. Currently Humphrey lives in Concord.

2013 Humphrey came again in the media, as he explained in an e -mail, the whistleblower Edward Snowden did the right thing.
