James Sheafe

James Sheafe ( born November 16, 1755 in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, † December 5, 1829 ibid ) was an American politician ( Federalist Party), who represented the state of New Hampshire in both chambers of Congress.

After his education, James Sheafe attended Harvard College and received his degree there in 1774. Subsequently he worked in the commercial sector, before he began to press and politically. From 1788 to 1790 he was a member of the House of Representatives of New Hampshire; in the years 1791, 1793 and 1799 he was a member of each of the State Senate. He also sat on the Executive Committee in 1799 the state government.

On March 4 of the same year Sheafe moved to a successful election to the House of Representatives of the United States, where he remained until March 3, 1801. Immediately thereafter, he moved within the Congress in the Senate; However, he took his mandate there true only until his resignation on 14 June 1802. His successor was William Plumer.

1816 Sheafe ran for governor of New Hampshire. However, he scored only 46.9 percent of the vote and defeated William Plumer therefore, who had come for the Democratic- Republican Party. Then Sheafe retired finally retired from politics.
