Jeduthun Wilcox

Jeduthun Wilcox ( born November 18, 1768 in Middletown, Connecticut; † July 18, 1838 in Orford, New Hampshire ) was an American politician. Between 1813 and 1817 he represented the State of New Hampshire in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Jeduthun Wilcox studied for his law school days. After his made ​​in 1802 admitted to the bar he began in Orford to work in his new profession. At the same time he began a political career as a member of the Federalist Party, founded by Alexander Hamilton. Between 1809 and 1811 Wilcox was a deputy in the House of Representatives from New Hampshire.

In the congressional elections of 1812, which were held all across the state, Wilcox was for the then newly created sixth parliamentary seat from New Hampshire in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC selected. After a re-election in 1814 he was able to complete in 1817 two coherent legislative sessions in Congress, who were overshadowed by the events of the British - American War of 4 March 1813 to 3 March.

After the end of his time in the House of Representatives to Wilcox moved back out of politics. He died on 18 July 1838 in Orford. His son Leonard (1799-1850) was 1842-1843 U.S. Senator for the state of New Hampshire.
