Geographical location

Grabenstatt is located in the south-eastern shore of Lake Chiemsee Chiemgau. The nearest motorway is the location immediately south motorway A8 Munich - Salzburg. The nearest passenger station is located just a few kilometers south place overseas on the DB main railway line Munich - Salzburg ( KBS 951).

History

Even today, the foundations of a large Roman estate attention to the settlement in Celtic- Roman times. Is first mentioned Grabenstatt on 8 June 959 in a charter of King Otto the Great in Salzburg. The space around Grabenstatt is performed at the beginning of the 10th century as " comitatus Teginberti " (county of Reginbert ). This management area consisted mainly altbesiedeltes country. Incorporations

On 1 January 1972 parts of the territory of the dissolved municipality Holzhausen were incorporated. On 1 May 1978, the former municipalities Grabenstatt, Erlstätt and Oberhochstätt were merged into a new community with the official name Grabenstatt in the course of municipal reform. On 1 January 1982 top and Unterhochstätt were reclassified into the community Chieming.
