Background and History
The originally called " Grammy Award for Best Rock Vocal Performance, Solo" designated Award was first awarded in 1988 to Bruce Springsteen for his album Tunnel of Love. In subsequent years, there was one award in 1992 and 1994, since 2005 he is awarded each year. Since the award in 2005 the official name has been changed to " Best solo rock vocal performance ." He replaced the separate gender awarded by the Grammy for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance and Best Female Rock Vocal Performance. Statistics
By 2011, the Grammy Award was five times awarded to Bruce Springsteen, who three times won the Grammy in the category of gender- separate times and holds the record in this category. The Grammy was awarded only to Americans and Bonnie Raitt in 1992 was the only woman who has ever received this Grammy.
Even with the number of nominations is Bruce Springsteen with a total of six nominations before the Canadians Neil Young, who has been nominated five times. He is the artist with the most nominations without ever having received the Grammy.
