The Grand Forks International Airport ( IATA: GRP, ICAO: KGFK ) is the airport of the city of Grand Forks in Grand Forks County to the east of the U.S. state of North Dakota. The Grand Forks International Airport is the main hub of air transport in the metropolitan region Greater Grand Forks, as well as adjacent areas in eastern North Dakota and northwestern Minnesota.

The airport is operated by the Grand Forks Regional Airport Authority, a joint committee of the city of Grand Forks and Grand Forks County.

Of the 967 aircraft movements per day, 71 percent of general aviation and 28 percent are attributable to the air taxi traffic. Scheduled flights make slightly less than one percent. There are also some military aircraft movements. The vast majority of flights operated by and for the John D. Odegard School of Aerospace Sciences at the University based in Grand Forks of North Dakota. The title International Airport is based on the cross-border movements of general aviation including the necessary customs and border clearance facilities.

Location

The airport is located 12.9 km west of Grand Forks. U.S. Highway 2 runs directly past the airport. A few kilometers east of the airport extends Interstate 29, which is the shortest route from Kansas City, Missouri to Winnipeg in the Canadian province of Manitoba.

Equipment

The airport has four start and runways, of which the longest one blacktop. The other three have a concrete pad. There is a passenger terminal with baggage conveyor system and two passenger boarding bridges. Several car rental companies have bases in the reception building.
