Großnaundorf

Großnaundorf is a Saxon church in the west of the district of Bautzen, which belongs to the administrative community Pulsnitz.

Geography and transport

The community is located approximately 25 kilometers northeast of the state capital Dresden and 7 kilometers northwest of Pulsnitz. South of the village runs the Federal Highway 4, which is accessible via the junction Pulsnitz. The municipality is located in the hills of West Lusatian hills (up to 448 m above sea level. NN ) at the feet of the mountain club. The hilltops are largely forested.

History

The place is first documented in 1309 as Nuwendorf proven. The name derives from "new" from the Middle High German nuwe, so NHG from. To distinguish them from similarly named towns in the present place name thus refers to a " large new village".
