Guldborgsund Municipality

Guldborgsund Municipality is a municipality in Denmark. It consists of the island of Falster and the eastern part of the island of Lolland in Zealand in the south of the country, was established at the beginning of 2007, in the course of administrative reform. It was named by the municipality Guldborgsund, a Sound, Lolland -Falster separates and passes through the commune in the middle.

Structure

The Guldborgsund municipality ( Area: 900.60 km ² ) includes the six ancient communities

  • Nykøbing
  • Nysted
  • Nørre Alslev
  • Sakskøbing
  • Stubbekøbing
  • Sydfalster

In the community currently live 61 322 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013). The area contains the following parish communities (Danish: Sogn ) and villages with over 200 inhabitants ( byer as defined by the Danish Bureau of Statistics ):

Administrative center of the municipality is Nykøbing. Mayor since January 1, 2010 John Brædder of the local party Nyt Guldborgsund.

Traffic

Through the municipality runs during the Vogelfluglinie the internationally important railway and road link Hamburg - Copenhagen. The end of 2007, the last section of the Bird Route ( European Route 47 at Guldborgsundtunnelen ) to the highway. Bridges cross the sound in Guldborg (old route) and Nykøbing. The road connection to the island of Zealand and thus to Copenhagen put the Farø bridges north of Falster ago ( European Routes 47 and 55).

A ferry terminal is located at the southern tip of Falster Gedser (ferry to Rostock ).
