György Piller

György Piller ( born June 19, 1899 in Eger, † September 6, 1960 in San Francisco; Complete name György Piller Jekelfalussy ) was a Hungarian fencer and coach. He won two gold medals at the Olympic Games.

Career

György Piller pursued a military career and began fencing during his training. He became world champion saber 's Singles at the World Fencing Championships in 1930, 1931 and 1933. During the Olympic Summer Games 1928 in Amsterdam Piller came with the teams in epee and foil competition, but failed to win a medal. Four years later, at the 1932 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, Piller could each win the gold medal in saber individual and with the saber team.

After his playing career György Piller was fencing coach. After the Soviet invasion of Hungary in 1956, the United States, he turned and wandered off. There he continued his work went by as a coach.
