Heinz Josef Algermissen

Heinz Josef Algermissen (* February 15, 1943 in Hermes wedge) is Bishop of Fulda.

Life

After his graduation in 1963, he studied philosophy and Catholic theology at the Albert -Ludwigs- University of Freiburg and the Faculty of Theology of Paderborn. He was ordained a deacon on April 5, 1968. On July 19, 1969, he received by Archbishop Cardinal Lorenz Jaeger in Paderborn Cathedral, the sacrament of Holy Orders. After a period as chaplain and Bielefeld in Meschede, in which he was also chaplain at the University of Paderborn, he became pastor in 1980 in Bielefeld- Schildesche and there in 1984 Dechant. Since 2002 he has been president of Pax Christi. Since 2006 Algermissen is vice chairman of the commission for ecumenism with its associated sub-commission " questions of Judaism " of the German Bishops' Conference and a member of the Liturgical Commission. In addition Algermissen is Vice President of the Maximilian -Kolbe -Werk.

He is a member of K.D.St.V. Guestfalo - Silesia to Paderborn ( 1964), the KDSt.V. Wildenstein Freiburg im Breisgau (1969 ) and the KDSt.V. Adolphiana Fulda (2008 ), all in the CV. In 2003 he was invested in the Equestrian Order of the Holy grave in Jerusalem. Bishop Algermissen is a member of the Rotary Club Bielefeld -South and the Kolping Society.
