Heves County (former)

The Heves ( German rarely county Hewesch; Hungarian Heves Vármegye, Latin comitatus Hevesiensis ) was a historic administrative unit ( county / county) in the Kingdom of Hungary.

The area lies in present-day Northern Hungary on the face of today's Heves county, but was slightly larger than this.

Location

The county bordered on the counties Pest - Pilis - Solt -Kiskun Neograd ( Nógrád ) ), Gemer and small Hont ( Gömör és Kis- Hont ), Borsod, Hajdu and Jasz -Nagykun -Szolnok. It lay between the Matra Mountains and the Bükk in the northwest and the river Tisza in the southeast.

History

The county was created in the 13th century and was in this form to large Komitatsreform 1950. 1596 to 1687 it was occupied by the Turks. In 1950, the area around Pásztó assigned to the Nógrád in the wake of the great Komitatsreform, as was the left bank of the Tisza (around Tiszafüred ) to the Jász -Nagykun -Szolnok. In return areas were added to Eger from Borsod- Abaúj -Zemplén. See further Heves County.
