Hjo Municipality

Hjo is a municipality (in Swedish kommun ) on the western shore of Lake Vättern, in the Swedish province of Västra Götaland County and the historic province of Västergötland. Center of the municipality is the city Hjo.

Geography

The municipality extends about 35 km along the western shore of Lake Vättern. A few kilometers inland runs the ridge of the mountain Hökensås parallel to the lake. Is the valley of the river and its tributary Tidan Yan On its west side. During the Hökensås is barren and forested, both the beach strip between the lake and the mountain and the valley of the Tidan are used for agriculture.
