Horace Brown (athlete)

Horace Brown ( Horace Hallock " Hal " Brown, born March 30, 1898 in Madison, New Jersey, † December 25, 1983 in Houston ) was an American long-distance runner.

In 1920, he won over 5000 meters at the U.S. eliminator for the Olympic Games in Antwerp, but reached there not in this discipline the goal. In the team race over 3000 meters, however he came first to the finish and won with Arlie Schardt ( 3 ) and Ivan Dresser ( 6 ) the gold medal for the U.S. team. In the same year he was IC4A champion over two miles.

Horace Brown graduated from Williams College and worked as a seismologist later.
