I'm a Slave 4 U (English for "I am your slave " ) is a song by American pop singer Britney Spears. The song was written by Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo and produced. It was released on 24 September 2001 as the first single of the album Britney.
Music Video and Performance
The music video for I'm a Slave 4 U was produced by Francis Lawrence and released along with the single. Mainly it shows Spears dancing in a sauna surrounded by female and male backing dancers. Spears' performance of the song at the 2001 MTV Video Music Awards 2001 in New York City is one of their most famous, which is probably the most was the fact that she wore around her neck during the performance of an albino python. The show received negative reviews from the ranks of animal rights organization PETA, who condemned the use of exotic animal during the performance.
Reception
The song was a commercial success and was well received both by critics and by the public. The song is considered with the aim to agree on a more mature sound than a step of Spears in the right direction. While it is badly placed weak in the U.S., it was able to record many more successes in the European area and could almost everywhere achieve top 10 rankings. In Germany for example, it reached No. 3 in Austria 6th place The single was awarded in Australia, Norway and Sweden with gold.
