Igors Rausis

Igor Rausis ( born April 7, 1961 in Kommunarsk, Ukrainian SSR ) is a Czech chess grandmaster.

He began his chess career still in the Ukrainian republic of the Soviet Union in the mid- 1980s, he went to the Latvian republic and played until 2003 for Latvia. In the years from 2003 to 2007 he played for Bangladesh, he is registered with the FIDE for the Czech Republic since 2007. Rausis was awarded the Grandmaster title in 1992. For the Latvian national team, he played three times ( in 1996, 1998 and 2002 ) at the Chess Olympiad. Rausis was the coach of the national team of the United Arab Emirates, at the Chess Olympiad 2008, he was the coach of the national team of Bangladesh, at the Chess Olympiad in 2010 and today (October 2011) he is the coach of Algeria. In years 1985/86 he was one of the first coach Alexei Shirov of, he also has the U -20 Junior World champion Ahmed Adly trained.

Rausis conquered or occupied top positions in several tournaments: I-III. Place in Saint Martin ( 1991), first place in Moscow ( 1992), I-II. Place in Four Home (1992 ), I-III. Place in Las Palmas ( 1995), I-II. Place in Gausdal (1995), first place in Enghien- les- Bains ( 1995), first place in Jyväskylä (1996 ), first place in Willsbach (1997), I-II. Place in Gausdal (2000), I-VII. Square in Cairo (2001), I-IV. Place in Gausdal (2002), first place in Bad Booklet (2002), first place in Lienz ( 2003), I-III. Place in Bogny -sur -Meuse (2004), I-IV. Place in Esbjerg ( 2006), II, III. Place in the Keres Memorial in Tallinn (2008), II place in the GM tournament Alushta (2008), first place in Uxbridge in 2009 and 2010 and I. Place at Dieppe Open in 2010.

Rausis long played in the Czech Extraliga for BSS Frýdek- Místek, since the 2011/12 season he plays for ŠK Labortech Ostrava. In the Austrian Bundesliga 2008 he was team champion with the SK Baden year. In the German Chess Bundesliga he played in the 1998/99 season for the SC Four home and later in the second league for the SC Schwegenheim. In France, he plays in the National 1 for Orcher la Tour.
