Ataturk Airport (IATA: IST, ICAO: LTBA; Turkish Ataturk Uluslararası Havalimanı; formerly Yeşilköy ) is the largest international commercial airport in the Turkish city of Istanbul Istanbul- Sabiha Gökçen before. Terminal building

The terminals are operated since 2000 by the TAV Airports Holding. There are different plans for an extension of the international terminal in the eastern part of the airport by the demolition of old buildings and unhelpful. Location and Transport

Incidents

  • On 24 May 2006 a major fire destroyed large parts of the cargo area of the airport. The fire broke out probably in a textile warehouse and spread to large parts of the cargo area above.
