Jack Butland ( born March 10, 1993, Bristol, England) is an English football goalkeeper. Since 2013 he is the first division club Stoke City under contract.

Career

In the club

Jack Butland was included in the youth academy of Birmingham City in 2007. There he played in the U -18 and for the reserve team and was awarded for his performance in these teams in the 2009/10 season the internal association "Young Player of the Season " award.

In May 2011, he officially became the first professional squad, but at first did not come to missions there, but was loaned in the Football League Two Cheltenham Town. In the fourth division league he first played twelve times from September 2011 to January 2012. Afterwards he initially returned to Birmingham, but was back in February again awarded to Cheltenham, where he was again twelve times in goal.

In April 2012, however, he was ordered back to Birmingham City, because their goalkeeper Boaz Myhill had first injured and Butland was needed on the bench.

In the fall of 2013 he moved to the end on loan to Barnsley FC.

In the National Team

Soon after his move to Birmingham City Butland was appointed to the English U-16 selection. He made his debut there on 3 October 2008 against Northern Ireland in the Victory Shield. Overall, he came in this age group used four times and remained undefeated with three wins and a draw.

He then moved on to the U -17, for which he ran aground nine times. Here he experienced his first defeat of the national team, but was with seven wins and a draw also successful, winning the European Championship 2010 In this tournament, he was initially only substitute for Sam Johnstone, persuaded, however, as he in their final group game -. With the U -20 he took in 2011 at the Junior World Cup finals. In the group stage, he finished with his team after three goalless draw although only in third place, but could be the best third-placed yet move into the second round - where they lost 0-1 Nigeria and thus left without their own scoring of the tournament. The FIFA Technical Study Group identified Butland opposite Billy Knott as "outstanding player " of his team and described him as " quiet [n ] and safe [n ] goalkeeper with good reflexes, strong high balls ".

Then he was appointed as the last level of training in the U -21 and was available to them in six games in goal, which he won five and lost one.

Surprisingly, he was appointed in 2012 as the third goalkeeper in the A- squad selections for the 2012 European Championship, after John Ruddy, who was actually scheduled as the third keeper, had broken the fingers and therefore had to cancel.
