Marc Muniesa Martínez (born 27 March 1992 in Lloret de Mar, Catalonia ) is a Spanish football player. The defender started his career with FC Barcelona, and is at Stoke City since 2013 under contract.

Career

Association

Muniesa played from 2002 in the youth of the FC Barcelona.

On the penultimate Round of the 2008/09 season, when FC Barcelona already stood as a masterpiece, Muniesa was in the game against CA Osasuna his debut in the Primera División. He came on shortly after half-time for Sylvinho and got a few minutes left in the game after a foul on Antonio Hidalgo the red card. His coach Pep Guardiola echauffierte so much about the sending-off that he was sent by referee Antonio Rubino Pérez consequently the whistle. A few days later Muniesa sat in a 2-0 win in the Champions League final against Manchester United on the bench, but was not used.

From the 2012/13 season Muniesa should officially move up to the squad for the first team. In a test match against Hamburger SV on July 24, 2012, however, Muniesa suffered a torn ACL and missed by the entire first half of the season. After his recovery, in February 2013 he collected until end of season match practice in the second team.

For the 2013/14 season Muniesa moved free transfer to Stoke City, where he signed a four year contract.

National

With the Spanish U -17 defender took part in the 2009 U-17 European Championship, failed with his team but after three goalless draws in the preliminary round. Half a year, he was a captain in the squad of the U- 17 team at the World Cup in Nigeria, where he finished in third place with his team. Muniesa came in five games for use in the quarter-final match against Uruguay, he was sent off in the 45th minute.
