Jonathan Ronald " Jon" Walters ( born September 20, 1983 in Birkenhead, England) is an English- Irish football player.

Career

Jon Walters began at Blackburn Rovers and moved to the youth in 2001 to Bolton Wanderers. In the season 2002/ 03 he came four times in the Premier League team to use, yet it was not enough to break through and so he was loaned the following year to several clubs. One of these, Hull City, took him from 2004 under contract. In alternating years, it went to Wrexham FC and Chester City and although he regularly came into use at every club he took in 2007 at Ipswich Town a longer-term stay.

In the 2007 /08 season, he had his breakthrough when he scored 13 goals for the second division in 40 games. In the following two years, the striker then was a fixture on the offensive of the association of the port city in the east of England.

2010 then showed the first division club Stoke City an interest in the obligation of Walters. This time, he immediately sat down in the Premier League and came by regularly as a second striker or as a winger for use. National

Like several of his colleagues in the Irish national team is Jon Walters born Englishman, but may not play due to his Irish ancestors for Ireland. After his move to Stoke City coach Giovanni Trapattoni was interested and invited him to a friendly match against Norway. On 17 November 2010 he was in the second half, his international debut.

However, it took another year until it was used in the crucial games to qualify for the 2012 European Football Championship. In the play-off game in Estonia, he contributed a goal for predetermining end 4-0 away win. After that he played twice in the preliminary phase of the EM end of May 2012 and was included in the squad of Ireland.
