Geoffrey Scott " Geoff " Cameron ( born July 11, 1985 in Attleboro, Massachusetts) is an American soccer player.

Career

Youth and College

In his youth, Cameron played for the Bayside FC. He attended Attleboro High School and the Providence Country Day School in East Providence, Rhode Iceland. After graduating, he went to the West Virginia University. There he spent two years playing college soccer, before he moved to the University of Rhode Iceland 2006. At the end of his last season in college, he was named Best Midfielder of the Year in the Atlantic 10 Conference. He was also appointed selection to the all- Mid Atlantic Region.

During his time at college he also plays for the Rhode Iceland Stingrays of the USL Premier Development League.

Club career

After college, he participated in the MLS SuperDraft 2008 part. He was selected in the third round by Houston Dynamo. His debut for the Texans he gave on 29 March 2008 in a match against New England Revolution. In his first home game, 6 April 2008, he scored just before the end of the game 's first goal and then secured a 3-3 draw against FC Dallas. During the season, he came on a regular basis and stood at some games from the very beginning on the court. At the end of the season he was for the MLS Rookie of the Year Award, the award for the best young players nominated.

In the 2009 season he was able to establish itself more and more in the team and was appointed in the summer for the MLS All- Star game against Everton, where he ran aground in the starting lineup. In the same year he was appointed to the MLS Best XI, a selection of the best players of the season.

During the 2010 season, he injured his knee and could not play half of the season. Cameron returned in August and scored in his first game a goal. In 2011 he was nominated for the MLS All -Star Game.

National

In January 2009 he was appointed for the first time in the national team of the United States. He could not participate in the friendly against Sweden but because he had been injured. He made his debut on 24 February 2010 against El Salvador, where he came on in the 86th minute.
