Jakob Silfverberg

Jacob Silfverberg ( born October 13, 1990 in Gävle) is a Swedish professional ice hockey player who is since July 2013 at the Anaheim Ducks of the National Hockey League contract.

Career

Jacob Silfverberg began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the junior department of Brynäs IF, for its professional team, he made his debut in the Elitserien during the 2008/ 09 season. In a total of 17 games in his rookie year, he scored three goals and gave a presentation. He was then selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 2009 in the second round than a total of 39 players from the Ottawa Senators. First, however, the winger remained at his hometown club, scoring in his first full season in professional hockey in the 2009/10 season in 53 games per nine goals and nine assists. Then the scouts in Russia were aware of the Swedes. In KHL Junior Draft 2010 he was finally selected in the second round than a total of 46 players HK from CSKA Moscow. In the season 2010/11 he was able to increase again. By 38 scorer points, including 18 goals, in 58 games he managed the leap into the senior national team.

On 30 May 2011 he signed a three year contract with the Ottawa Senators of the National Hockey League. In the season 2011/12 he ran but initially continue for his hometown club Brynäs IF in the Elitserien on. The winger finished this season with a record of 54 points in 49 games of the regular season as the second best points scorer of the league after leading scorer Robert Rosén and was subsequently awarded the Guldhjälmen as the most valuable player of the Elitserien.

For the season 2012/13 Silfverberg eventually switched fix in the organization of the Ottawa Senators. In July 2013 he was transferred together with Stefan noeses and a first-round vote in the NHL Entry Draft in 2014 in exchange for Bobby Ryan to the Anaheim Ducks.

Internationally

For Sweden Silfverberg took part in the junior level at the U18 World Youth Championship in 2008 and the Under-20 Junior World Cup in 2010. In the 2008 U18 World Cup, he was elected one of the three best players of his team, at the 2010 U20 World Championships he won the bronze medal with his team. In the senior level, he stood at the World Cup 2011 squad for the first time in his country and won with his team right away the silver medal.

Family

Jacob Silfverberg comes from a family with many years of hockey tradition. His father, Jan-Erik Silfverberg and his uncle Conny Silfverberg were also professional hockey players. His brother Joakim Silfverberg plays in the third-tier Division 1, while his cousin Joel Silfverberg is active in the youth department of Brynäs IF.
