Jakub Klepiš

Jakub Klepiš ( born June 5, 1984 in Prague, Czechoslovakia) is a Czech ice hockey player who is under contract with HC Lev Prague in the Kontinental Hockey League since May 2012.

Career

The 1.83 m tall striker began his career with the Portland Winter Hawks in the Canadian junior Western Hockey League, after which he returned to his homeland for HC Slavia Prague. NHL Entry Draft 2002 Klepis was selected as 16 in the first round by the Ottawa Senators ( drafted ).

Without having a single NHL game denied the right shooter was transferred in 2003 to the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for Vaclav Varada and on 9 March 2004 for Mike Grier to the Capitals. But even there he was at first only at their farm team, the Portland Pirates and the Hershey Bears, used in the AHL. The 2005/06 season finally should then become his most successful: in addition to his first NHL inserts for Washington Klepis won with the Hershey Bears Calder Cup and the championship so that the AHL. Also in the season 2006/ 07 came from the Czech Republic, both in the NHL and in the AHL for use. During his time in the National Hockey League, he completed a total of 66 games for the Washington Capitals. Middle of the season 2007/ 08 he moved back to his hometown and played for HC Slavia Prague.

Between 2008 and 2010 he stood at HK Avangard Omsk in the KHL under contract before moving in July 2010 within the League to Salavat Yulaev Ufa, with whom he won the Gagarin Cup in season 2010/11. In the 2011/12 season he scored three goals in 15 games and two assists for Ufa, before his contract was terminated in October 2011. He was then informed of Ufa on the waiver list and could be selected within 48 hours of other KHL teams. After he was first selected Metallurg Novokuznetsk, the team transferred him hours later against a Erstrundenwahlrecht for the KHL Junior Draft for OHK Dynamo. With Dynamo, he won at the end of the season again the Gagarin Cup, before moving to the new KHL participants HC Lev Prague in May 2012.
