Jan Kopecký

January Kopecký ( born January 28, 1982 in Opočno, Czechoslovakia) is a Czech rally driver.

Career

In 1995 he began racing go-kart race and ran until 1999. In the same year he launched the Fiesta Cup, where he was runner-up in 1999 and the following year won this championship. In 2000, he won some races at the pickup freestyle and was runner-up at the Octavia Cup. There he won this championship the following year. In 2001, he first participated in a rally and won the National Sprint Rally Championship. In 2002 he started with a Toyota Corolla WRC in the Czech Rally Championship and took the Rally Germany in his first World Rally Championship round. In 2003, he was with a factory-backed Škoda Octavia WRC third in the Czech Rally Championship and took in Germany, Wales and at the Rally Finland WRC events in part. In 2004 he was a Škoda Fabia WRC then winner of the Czech Rally Championship. In 2005 he started again in Germany, in Corsica and in the Rally of Catalonia, where he scored his first championship point with eighth place overall. In 2006 and 2007 he drove two largely complete seasons in the World Rally Championship in the Škoda Fabia WRC. Reach him at the 2006 Rally Catalunya and 2007 in the Rally of Germany with two fifth places his best results so far in the World Rally Championship. In the 2008 World Championship season, he took part only in the Rally Mexico, but started in a Peugeot 207 S2000 during four rounds of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge. In the IRC 2009, he finished with two wins and three second places in the championship second place. Since 2009 he is working at Škoda driver and is used quite successfully in national rallies and in the IRCs. In the 2011 season, he first scored four podium finishes and then two wins in a row at the Barum Czech Rally Zlín and the Mecsek rally. He then took the lead in the championship, which he wore at the Rallye Sanremo and a fifth place in the Rally of Scotland still led by a fourth place.
