Ján Lipiansky

Ján Lipiansky (sometimes Lipiansky ) (born 23 July 1974 in Bratislava, Czechoslovakia ) is a former Slovak ice hockey player. Since the end of his active career in 2013, he is the HC Slovan Bratislava of the Continental Hockey League as an assistant coach under contract.

Career

Ján Lipiansky began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the junior section of the HC Slovan Bratislava, for the first team he made his debut in the first league, the highest Czechoslovak league was in season 1992/93. After division of Czechoslovakia, he spent the next four years with Slovan Bratislava in the Slovak Extraliga newly established. In the 1994/95 season he also played seven games for the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League, after he had been previously selected in 1994 in the eleventh round of their partners Philadelphia Flyers in the NHL Entry Draft as a total of 240 players. In the 1997/98 season, the center was first active abroad than he initially for HC Energie Karlovy Vary in the Czech Extraliga, and later for Ässät Pori and Tappara Tampere of the Finnish SM- liiga and the Kalix HF from the Division 1 the then second highest Swedish league, ran aground.

From 1998 to 2000 Lipiansky played again for the HC Slovan Bratislava, with whom he in his career won the Slovak Championship title for the first time in the 1999/2000 season. In the following season he became Czech Champion with HC Slovnaft Vsetín. The main round of the 2001/02 season he spent with his former club Ässät Pori in the Finnish SM- liiga. During the playoffs, he came to two inserts for HC Ambri -Piotta in the Swiss National League A. The 2002/ 03 season began, the former national team at HC Slovan Bratislava in the Slovak Extraliga and finished it at the Kassel Huskies in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga. In the summer of 2003 he returned to HC Energie Karlovy Vary Czech Republic. During the season 2004/ 05 he joined the HC Košice from his home in Slovakia, for then he was two and a half years on the ice. The season 2007/ 08 he spent both in HKm Zvolen, as well as the HK Nitra in the Slovak Extraliga. In the following season he began again when HKm Zvolen, before he returned to his hometown club HC Slovan Bratislava. With this he won in the 2011/12 season again the Slovakian championship.

For the 2012/13 season Slovan Bratislava was included in the Continental Hockey League. After the end of his first KHL game time Lipiansky ended his career and became an assistant coach at HC Slovan.

Internationally

For Czechoslovakia Lipiansky took part in the U18 European Junior Championships in 1992, where he won the gold medal with his team. For Slovakia, he participated in the U20 Junior C World Cup 1994. In addition, he was in his country's squad at the World Championships in 1999.
