2000â€“01 Czech Extraliga season
The 2000/ 01 was the eighth regular hosting of the Czech Extraliga. In the play-off final, the HC Slovnaft Vsetín set against last year's winner HC Sparta Prague 3-0 by. In the first league of the Czech Republic KLH Chomutov won the play-off finals and met in the relegation to the HC Becherovka Karlovy Vary, but failed with 2-4 against the league last of the Extraliga.

In 52 games, all teams will play two complete double rounds, so each team has 26 each home and away games. The teams ranked 1-8 qualify directly for the play- offs, their quarter-finals will be played in best-of- seven- mode. Semifinals and finals will be held in the other hand, Best-of -Five mode. For the teams ranked 9-13, the season is over after the main round. At the end of the season will take place in addition to Relegation Playoffs one where the last place team in the Extraliga and the winner of the play-off final of the first league to participate. In the mode best- of-seven with a maximum of seven games per team of climbers is determined in the Extraliga or relegated to the first division.

The crew of the HC Slovnaft Vsetín sat down with 3-1 against HC Sparta Prague through and won the sixth league title in club history. In the playoffs excelled especially Jiří Dopita, who scored four goals alone in the second final game. Overall, he reached eight goals and 13 assists, so he was duly awarded the MVP of the playoffs. In addition to this award, he has been voted player of the year and determined by our players the Extraliga for Best Player. Last year's champion Sparta Prague despite an outstanding performance by goalkeeper Petr Briza ( 93.36 % Sv, 2.31 GAA) the title does not defend.

The KLH Chomutov reached 1999/2000 winning the championship for 1st league. In the relegation but the club failed 4-2 on HC Becherovka Karlovy Vary, so that the team from Chomutov remained in the first league.
