Jean Baptiste Plauché

Jean Baptiste Plauche (* 1785, † January 2, 1860 ) was an American politician. Between 1850 and 1853 he was Deputy Governor of the State of Louisiana.

Career

Neither Plauchés birth nor his place of death have survived. There is no information about his youth and education. During the British - American War, he was a major in the militia of the city of New Orleans. In this capacity he took part in the beginning of 1815 led by General Andrew Jackson Battle of New Orleans. Later he became an officer in the state militia (Louisiana Legion ), in which he brought it up to brigadier general.

Only in 1850 he entered politics in appearance. At that time he was elected to the side of Joseph Marshall Walker as Independent Vice Governor of the State of Louisiana. This post he held 1850-1853. Yet he was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate. He died on 2 January 1860. Together with his wife Mathilde St. Amand he had seven children.
