Jean-François Bernard

Jean -François Bernard ( born 2 May 1962 in Luzy, France ) is a former French cyclist.

Career

Bernard was from 1984 to 1996 and went professional at the beginning of his career as teammate Bernard Hinault in the team La Vie Claire. 1991 to 1994 he drove for Banesto, where he was a valuable aid for Miguel Indurain. His most significant success was his 1987 Tour de France. After he won with an exceptional performance, the mountain time trial to Mont Ventoux, he wore the yellow jersey for one day of the leader. In the final classification, he finished in third place.
