Jim Clyburn

James Enos "Jim" Clyburn ( born July 21, 1940 in Sumter, South Carolina) is an American politician of the Democratic Party. He is since 1993 member of the U.S. House of Representatives and represents there at the time the sixth congressional district of the state of South Carolina.

Clyburn is currently Majority Whip and making it the third most powerful Democrat in the 111th Congress.

Clyburn studied history at today's South Carolina State University and then worked as a high school teacher.

He is married to Emily since 1961.
