John D. Alderson

John Duffy Alderson ( born November 29, 1854 in Summerville, Virginia; † December 5, 1910 in Richwood, West Virginia ) was an American politician. Between 1889 and 1895 he represented the third electoral district of the state of West Virginia in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Born in what is now West Virginia John Alderson attended the public schools of his home. Between 1871 and 1873 he held the ceremonial post of " Sergeant of Arms " in the Senate of West Virginia. By 1873, he was there also a bouncer ( Doorkeeper ). After studying law and its made ​​in 1876 admitted to the bar he began in his birthplace of Summerville, who was then still called Nicholas Court House, to work in his new profession. Between 1876 and 1889, Alderson was district attorney for the Nicholas County and Webster County. Between 1883 and 1887 he was employed by the State Senate.

Alderson was a member of the Democratic Party and in 1888 as its candidate in the third district of West Virginia in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC selected. There he entered on March 4, 1889, the successor of Charles P. Snyder. After two re- elections he could implement his mandate in Congress until March 3, 1895. For the 1894 elections, he was defeated by Republican James Hall Huling. After the end of his time in Congress Alderson again worked as a lawyer. In the years 1900 and 1908 he was a delegate to the Democratic National Conventions relevant. John Alderson died on 5 December 1910 and was buried in Summerville.
