Shelley Moore Capito

Shelley Moore Capito (* November 26, 1953 in Glen Dale, Marshall County, West Virginia) is an American politician. Since 2001, it represents the second electoral district of the state of West Virginia in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Shelley Capito is the daughter of former Governor and Congressman Arch A. Moore. Until 1975 she studied at Duke University in Durham (North Carolina). She then attended the University of Virginia. Politically, she joined the Republican Party. Between 1997 and 2001, she sat in the House of Representatives from West Virginia.

In the congressional elections of 2000, Capito was in the second district of West Virginia in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC selected. There it began on 3 January 2001 to succeed the Democrats Bob Wise. After they were each re-elected in the following four congressional elections, they can exercise their mandate in Congress today. Her current term of office runs until 3 January 2011. She is a member of the Finance Committee, the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure and the Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming. She is also represented in six subcommittees. Capito is a decided opponent of gambling on the Internet.

She is married to Charles Capito and private lives in Charleston (West Virginia).
