Jorge Goncalvez (racing driver)

Jorge Andrés Goncalvez ( born June 14, 1991 Los Teques ) is a Venezuelan race car driver. He joined from 2011 to 2013 in the Indy Lights at.

Career

Goncalvez began his motorsport career in 2001 in karting, where he was active until 2006. In 2006, he debuted in Formula racing and participated in a round of the Formula Renault 1.6 Panam GP Series, he finished equal on the podium. Then Goncalvez occurred in 2007 in the French Formula Renault Campus Championship, finishing in 14th place. 2008 Goncalvez returned to America and started for Apex - HBR Racing Team in the American Formula BMW. With a fourth place as best result he finished the season in seventh place overall.

2009 saw Goncalvez to AIM Motorsport in the Star Mazda Series and ended his first season in ninth place overall. He then took 2009/2010 part of the team at the Apex Winter Championship Start Mazda Series and won the championship. For Team Apex Goncalvez went in 2010 in the Star Mazda Series at the start. With five second places for the best results, he finished fourth overall.

2011 saw the launch Goncalvez for Belardi Auto Racing in the Indy Lights. With a second place as best result he finished the season in fifth place in the driver standings. Team Intern, he sat down with 371 by 333 points compared to Anders Krohn. 2012 remained Goncalvez at Belardi Auto Racing in the Indy Lights. With a sixth place as the best result he finished the season on top of the tenth. In addition Goncalvez took two races of the 2012 Rolex Sports Car Series in part. For Michael Shank Racing with Curb Agajanian he launched the 24- hour race at Daytona and finished third with his teammate Michael McDowell, Felipe Nasr and Gustavo Yacaman. 2013 graduated Goncalvez his third Indy Lights season for Belardi Auto Racing. While his team-mate Peter Dempsey repeatedly stood on the podium and won a race, two fourth places were the best results of Goncalvez. He was at the end of the season in sixth place. In addition to the champion Sage Karam Goncalvez was the only rider who finished every race in the target.

Personal

Goncalves nickname El Pollito translated means little chicken. On the back of his helmet a little chicken with these words is shown. Goncalves received the nickname because his father, whose nickname is Big Chicken, the owner of one of the largest poultry farms in Venezuela is.
