Junkers Ju 49

The Junkers Ju 49 was an experimental aircraft the Junkers aircraft factory AG. The single-engine low-wing aircraft equipped for high-altitude research with a specially designed pressurized cabin for two crew members.

History

The only built copy with the serial number 3701 had its first flight on 2 October 1931. The flag was first D- 2688, D- 1934 from UBAZ. It altitudes up to 13,000 m were reached before it crashed in 1936.

Motor

The twelve-cylinder V-engine Junkers L 88a with 588 kW ( 800 hp) of power, the drive- a 5.60 m measured four-bladed propeller, was equipped for flight at high altitude with a two- level loader.

Pressurized cabin

The pressurized cabin was incorporated as a separate component in the fuselage.
