Kelmentsi Raion

Rajon Kelmenzi (Ukrainian Кельменецький район / rayon Kelmenezkyj; Russian Кельменецкий район / Kelmenezki raion, Romanian Raionul Chelmenţi ) is a raion ( administrative district) in the Chernivtsi Oblast, in western Ukraine. The center of the Rajons is the urban-type settlement Kelmenzi. The Rajon bordered to the north by the Rajon Kamjanez - Podilskyj ( in the Khmelnytskyi Oblast ), to the east by Rajon Sokyrjany, to the south by Moldova in the southwest is a short section on the Rajon Nowoselyzja and to the west by Rajon Chotyn.

The Rajon was built in 1960 during the Soviet era in the Ukrainian SSR, scarce 98 percent of the population in 2001 gave their nationality with Ukrainian on. The place Polywaniw Jar / Поливанів Яр also belonged to Rajon, but was dissolved on 16 December 1987 and allocated to the district municipality Iwaniwzi.
