Khotyn Raion

Rajon Chotyn (Ukrainian Хотинський район / Chotynskyj rayon; Russian Хотинский район / Chotinski raion, Romanian Raionul Hotin ) is a raion ( administrative district) in the Chernivtsi Oblast in western Ukraine. The center is the city of Rajons Chotyn. The Rajon itself was created in 1940 after the occupation of Northern Bukovina to the Soviet Union as part of the Ukrainian SSR; it is part of today's Ukraine since 1991. On March 5, 1987, the village Darabany ( Дарабани; south of the Dniester Anadoly ) was dissolved because it had been flooded by the construction of the barrage at Nowodnistrowsk in the water of Dnisters.

It is bordered to the north by Rajon Borschtschiw ( in Ternopil ), in the northeast on the Rajon Kamjanez - Podilskyj ( in the Khmelnytskyi Oblast ), to the east by Rajon Kelmenzi, to the south by Rajon Nowoselyzja and to the west by Rajon Zastavna.
