Kitzbühel District

The Kitzbühel district is an administrative district in the Austrian state of Tyrol. It is bordered to the north by Bavaria ( district of Traunstein ), on the west by the district of Kufstein and Schwaz district and in the east and south by the district of Zell am See ( Salzburg state ).

Economy and infrastructure

The economic structure of the district is dominated by the service sector, especially here dominated the two seasonal tourism. Major tourist areas are Kitzbühel, St. Johann in Tirol, the places on the Kaiser mountains, Kirchberg and the Municipality of Brixen im Thale, which in recent years to the center of the ski resort Wilder Kaiser - Brixental has developed and especially gained in importance.

Significant industrial and commercial areas are found in the communities of St. Johann, Oberndorf, Fieberbrunn, Kirchdorf Kitzbuhel and Brixen, where there are more than 150 companies to date. The largest production companies are in the areas of wood industry, construction and chemical industry.

Apart from the district capital Kitzbühel - as well as the surrounding communities - in which the international jet set wrong ( with appropriate land prices ), today announced the formerly insignificant farming village community has established St. Johann in Tirol as the economic center of the district. Through constant influx the market town since 2007, the richest inhabitants village in the district, located by its central location in the valley at the confluence of three Achen has St. Johann by many on regional public facilities (schools, military institutions and district hospital ) as well as a wide range of retail and commercial businesses now a major figure in the district.

Administrative divisions

The Kitzbühel district is divided into 20 municipalities, including the City and three market towns. In parentheses are the numbers of inhabitants from 1 January 2013.
