Kotovice

Kotovice ( German Gottowitz, also Kottowitz ) is a municipality with 268 inhabitants in the Czech Republic. It is located four kilometers north of the city and belongs to Stod Okres Plzeň- jih. The land area is 977 ha

Geography

The village is located 368 m above sea level. M. in the valley of a small tributary creek Zálužský in the headwaters. Kotovice located in the Pilsen basin, the area is flat and there is little forests.

Neighboring towns of Nový are in the north, Hoříkovice in the east, in the southeast Chotěšov, Stod in the south, Ves Touškov in the southwest and Záluží in the northwest.

History

The town was first mentioned in 1272. Kotovice was among the possessions of the monastery Chotěšov. After the Thirty Years' War the monastery German settlers caught up in the desolate area. Until 1691 the village was gepfarrt by Ves Touškov, followed by Stod. The residents of Gottowitz living from agriculture. From 1938 to 1945, the Ot belonged to the district of Mies.
