La Chapelle- lès- Luxeuil is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

La Chapelle- lès- Luxeuil situated at an altitude of 265 m above sea level, 5 km south of Luxeuil -les- Bains and about 23 km northeast of the town of Vesoul (air line). The village is located in the northern part of the department, in the plane of Luxeuil, at the Lanterne, on the western edge of the forest area Vay de Brest.

The area of ​​7.69 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the level of Luxeuil. The main part of the area occupied by the flat area, which is an average 265 m. The most important river is the Lanterne, which crosses the area from east to west and provides drainage to the Saône. At La Chapelle- lès- Luxeuil it absorbs from the right the Ruisseau du Vay de Brest and left the Ru du Bas. Agricultural land use predominates in this plane. To the east the area with a narrow tip extends over the level in the vast grove of Vay de Brest. With 310 m the highest peak of La Chapelle- lès- Luxeuil is achieved in the far east. In the south, the municipality's area extends to the foot of the heights of Mont d' Ahie.

Neighboring communities of La Chapelle- lès- Luxeuil are Saint- Sauveur in the north, Esboz -Brest in the east, and Ailloncourt Brotte -lès- Luxeuil in the south and Baudoncourt in the West.

History

Remains of a Roman road traffic have an early inspection and possibly settlement of the area down. The origin of the settlement formed a medieval chapel. In the Middle Ages La Chapelle- lès- Luxeuil belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. The local government had held the Lords of Luxeuil. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. Today, La Chapelle- lès- Luxeuil is a member of the comprehensive 13 villages municipal association Communauté de communes du Pays de Luxeuil.

Attractions

The Village Church of La Chapelle- lès- Luxeuil was built in 1777 and houses a baptismal font from the 16th century. From the 19th century, the Chapelle de la Vierge comes.

Population

With 437 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) La Chapelle- lès- Luxeuil one of the smaller towns in the Haute- Saône. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1886 487 persons were still counted ), a population growth was recorded since the early 1970s again.

Economy and infrastructure

La Chapelle- lès- Luxeuil has long been a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and forestry embossed village.
