La Corbière, Haute-Saône

La Corbières is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

La Corbières is located at an altitude of 380 m above sea level, 9 km east-southeast of Luxeuil -les- Bains and about 32 km northeast of the town of Vesoul (air line). The village is located in the northeastern part of the department, in the western foothills of the Vosges, on the Plateau des Mille Étangs.

The area of ​​3.15 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the plateau landscape on the western edge of the Vosges. The area occupied by a slightly inclined to the southwest plateau, which belongs to the Plateau des Mille Étangs. The existing part of crystalline bedrock, partly from the lower Triassic sandstone plateau was formed by glaciers during the ice ages. The landscape is therefore divided into peaks and troughs. It shows a loose structure of pastures and woodlands, heaths and moors. In hollows are often times in small lakes, mostly natural origin and are formed during the Ice Age by glaciers grinding. Some ponds have been created by the monks since the 11th century for fish farming or jammed up. The largest pond on the church floor is the Etang Gerion. Drained the area over the Lambier the Lanterne. With 421 m is reached on the hill near the Pierre Mourey the highest peak of La corbière.

La corbière consists of the districts of La corbière -Bas (380 m) and La corbière Skin ( 393 m). Neighboring communities of La corbière are Proiselière La -et- Langle in the north, Les Fessey in the east, Belmont to the south and Magnivray and La Bruyère in the West.

History

In the Middle Ages La corbière belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. The local government had held the Lords of Faucogney. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the place with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. Today La Corbières is a member of the comprehensive 13 villages municipal association Communauté de communes du Pays de Luxeuil.

Attractions

Local attractions include a Calvaire and two covered Lavoirs from the 19th century, once used as a wash house and livestock watering.

Population

With 98 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) La Corbières is one of the small towns in the Haute- Saône. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1886 229 persons were still counted ), only relatively small fluctuations were recorded since the mid- 1970s.

Economy and infrastructure

La corbière is still a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ), forestry and fish farming embossed village. Outside of the primary sector, there are few jobs in town. Some employed persons are therefore commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.

The village is situated away from the larger passage axes on a secondary road, leading from Froideconche after Écromagny. Further road links exist with Les Fessey and Magnivray.
