László Szollás

László Szollás [ la ː slo ː ː such a ː ʃ ] ( born November 13, 1907 in Budapest, † October 4, 1980 ) was a Hungarian figure skater, who started the pair of running.

He stepped in pair skating with Emília Rotter on. Together, they were six times in a row Hungarian champions in the years 1931-1936.

1930 and 1931 they were runners- up behind their compatriots Olga Orgonista and Sándor Szalay. In their third and last European championship is they were in 1934 in Prague European champions.

Had her first appearance at the World Championships Szollás and Rotter 1929 in the domestic Budapest. They occupied the fifth place there. In their next world championship is they were in Berlin in 1931 already world champion. They beat their compatriots Orgonista extremely scarce and Szalay, which they had recently still inferior in the European Championship. A year later, in 1932 in Montreal, Canada, Szollás and Rotter could not defend her title, she won the silver medal behind the French Andrée Brunet and Pierre Brunet. For this it was their last World Cup and thus the way was clear for the Hungarians. 1933 Stockholm and 1934 in Helsinki, they won the gold medal, both times just ahead of the Austrians Idi Papez and Karl Zwack. 1935 domestic Budapest they were then for the third time in a row and a total for the fourth and last time world champion and this unanimously against the Austrians Ilse Pausin and Erik Pausin.

Szollás and Rotter participated in two Olympic Games. Both in 1932 in Lake Placid as well as 1936 in Garmisch -Partenkirchen, they won the bronze medal.

László Szollás fought in the Second World War on the Eastern Front. He was captured by the Russians and spent four years in a camp in Siberia. On his return to Hungary and the nationalization of his property, he studied and became a doctor of sports medicine in Budapest.
