Ingo Steuer

Ingo Steuer ( born November 1, 1966 in Karl- Marx-Stadt ) is a former German figure skater, who started in pair skating for the GDR and Germany. On the side of Mandy Woetzel 1997 he was World Champion and 1995 European Champion. Today he works as a figure skating coach and led the figure skating pair Aliona Savchenko and Robin Szolkowy to five world and four European Championship titles.

Life

Ingo Steuer began in early childhood with the figure skating. He first started out for the SC Karl- Marx-Stadt, which was after the reunification of the SC Chemnitz. His pair of running coach was Monika Scheibe.

First Ingo Steuer ran with Manuela Landgraf and was with her in 1984 in Sapporo Junior World Champion for the GDR. The pair is the first and so far only German couple who was Junior World Champion.

After the separation of the couple he ran for several years with Ines Müller and reached her at the European Championships in 1990 and 1991 respectively the seventh.

In 1992, tax partner again and entered from then on with Mandy Woetzel. In 1993 they were the first time German champion. At the European Championships in Helsinki, they won silver with their first major international medal. At their first World Cup in Prague they were runners-up behind the Canadians Isabelle Brasseur and Lloyd Eisler. In 1994, she missed medals at the Olympic Games in Lillehammer, they had to retire due to an injury Wötzels. In the years 1995 to 1997 and gained control Wötzel the German pair skating championships. In 1995 she became European Champion in Dortmund. In 1996 she won the silver medal at both the European Championships as well as at the World Cup. In the same year they won the Grand Prix Final. In 1997 they won the European Championship back the silver medal. In the subsequent World Cup then they celebrated their biggest success. In Lausanne, they were world champions. After the season, both had to undergo knee surgery. Ingo Steuer was also carrying a car accident. However, they won the bronze medal at the 1998 Olympics in Nagano. After tax and Wötzel finished their amateur career and switched to the professionals.

In the season 2011/12 tax initially looked after the five-time German champion in a single run Annette Dytrt, but in May 2011 gave her career end known for personal reasons.

As a coach, Ingo Steuer 2006 continued its accreditation at the Olympics by a court. He was accused by the National Olympic Committee of an activity as an informer of the State Security of the GDR. This, he admits, but he sees himself as a "victim " because he in his position had no other choice than 18 -year-old aspiring figure skaters for career reasons, but agree with the cooperation of national security. Tax spied from January 1985 to the turn under the pseudonym IM Torsten athletes and staff at his club, including the Olympic champion Katarina Witt. The Federal Court decided on 15 May 2012 that, while the dismissal as a sports soldier because of transgressions, but not the dismissal of his athlete Robin Szolkowy as a sports soldier is allowed.
