2011 European Figure Skating Championships
The European Figure Skating Championships 2011 was held from 24 to 30 January 2011 at the PostFinance Arena in Bern. However, Switzerland was therefore already for the 19th time host of the tournament, Bern for the first time. The previous host cities in Switzerland were Davos, St. Moritz, Zurich, Geneva and Lausanne.

Competitions
There were four competitions held as usual, Running for Single Ladies and gentlemen, pair skating and ice dancing. New, however, was based on qualifications before the actual competition. In the single best 18 athletes of the last European Championship were directly qualified for the short program, the other athletes had to run her freestyle routine in qualifying. The ten best this qualification were eventually to also compete in the short program. In ice dancing, the 15 best of the last European Championship were set, five pairs were added from the qualification. In pair skating no qualification took place due to the small number of participants. If a skater or a pair that was set, did not compete, could take the place of another runner or another pair of the same nation.
In ice dancing compulsory dance no longer took place for the first time. After a rule change from the previous year ice dancing was henceforth only of short and Free Dance.

Reported for the European Championships had 38 women, 38 men, 16 pairs in pair skating and ice dancing in 27 couples The athletes came from 35 different countries.
