Lazzate

Lazzate is a northern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 7711 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Monza and Brianza in Lombardy. The community is located about 16 kilometers northwest of Monza, about 23 kilometers northwest of Milan and about 16 km south of Como in the Lambro as it flows through the Parco delle Groane. Lazzata is immediately adjacent to the province of Como.

History

Lazzate is first mentioned in the 13th century, with the ending- ate suggesting a Celtic origin.

Traffic

The Strada Statalke 35 Giovi leads east of the municipality along Seregno coming towards Como and Lago di Como. The nearest railway station is located in the neighboring communities Rovellasca or in Camnago.

Community partnership

Lazzate maintains a partnership with the French town of Le Bois -Plage -en- Ré in the Charente -Maritime.
