Leendert van der Meulen

Leendert " Leen " van der Meulen ( born November 22, 1937 in Badhoevedorp, today Haarlemmermeer ) is a former Dutch cyclist and motor-paced world champion.

Earlier in his career Leen van der Meulen took part in street races, 1958, he took second place in the Ronde van Zuid -Holland. In the Olympia's Tour, he crashed heavily and suffered a fractured skull. Then he decided to just have to go track racing. 1961 Leen van der Meulen was at first world amateur champion of the uprights in Zurich, behind pacemaker Bruno Walrave. In 1960 he won the national title in this discipline, in 1962, he finished second. After winning the World Cup in 1961 van der Meulen was converted to the pros, but ended after a further season his cycling career.

In 1979, Leen van der Meulen worked as a project developer, built a company, which was sold in 1979, and he emigrated to Canada. There he built on new corporate projects, but also called cycling events in life such as "Bike for your life". Today, van der Meulen has been living in the Netherlands.
