Liaoning (Chinese辽宁/辽宁) is a province in the northeast of the People's Republic of China.

History

Today's Liaoning Province, which was called Fengtian until 1929, was the heartland of the Manchu with Shenyang ( Manchu: Mukden ) as the capital of the Manchu Empire. After the founding of the Manchu Qing Dynasty moved their capital from Shenyang to Beijing. After the fall of the Qing Dynasty, the Province of Japan and Russia was busy, industrialized, the region also. The ports of Dalian and Lüshunkou (formerly known as Port Arthur ) was an important strategic point for the Russian Far East Fleet during the Russian occupation because of its ice-free.

Geography

Liaoning is located in Manchuria, the southern part of Northeast China. The province is bounded on the south by the Yellow Sea, southeast of North Korea, in northeastern Jilin Province, in western Hebei and the north- west by the Inner Mongolia.

The Yalu River is the border between North Korea and China. It empties into the Korea Bay between Dandong (Liaoning) and Sinuiju (North Korea).

Demography and autonomy

Economy
