List of Stanley Cup champions
The Stanley Cup is awarded to the winner of the play-off tournament, the National Hockey League every year.
The first playoff game for the Stanley Cup was launched on 22 March 1894. The Stanley Cup had been two years earlier, founded on March 18, 1892 by Frederik Arthur Stanley, Baron Stanley of Preston. At the start of the Cup was awarded a trophy for the best amateur hockey team in Canada. Since 1910, professional teams compete to win the Cup. Since the season 1926/1927 NHL plays the winner of the Cup from among themselves, as the only remaining competitive league, the WHL, the game mode was established. 1947 NHL got the exclusive rights to the Stanley Cup.
